Description

Independent property consisting of a large residential house and large courtyard The house is composed on the ground floor: kitchenette, living room, lounge, cellar, cavity, bathroom and warehouse, convertible into a garage; on the first floor: 2 bedrooms, closet, bathroom, balcony and large warehouse. The building has not been used in recent years, so it requires some renovation work. The location is central about 100 m from the square, convenient to access roads, with an exclusive garden in front of the house. Lying in a sunny amphitheater on the southern slopes of Mombracco, dominated by the imposing Monviso, Rifreddo is a quiet center in the lower Po Valley, on the orographic left of the largest Italian river. Its name originates from a stream that flows down from Mombracco, the Rio Freddo. The town, contrary to its toponym, enjoys, due to its splendid position, a mild and temperate climate. To visit: The Town Hall, dating back to the 15th century, overlooks Piazza della Vittoria: a beautiful ogival portico and a large window with a terracotta frame on the first floor, and two smaller upper windows stand out. The ancient Parish Church of San Nicolao, built in 1797, dominates Rifreddo from the hill. Masses are still celebrated there every Sunday in the summer. Inside, an icon depicting San Nicolao is visible. The female Monastery of S. Maria della Stella has recently been restored; its rooms host the multimedia station of the Historical Landscape of Mombracco with which you can view images of the historical-artistic and environmental resources and images of the documents preserved in the Municipal Historical Archive. A video is also available on the witch trials held in 1495 at the Monastery. The Sanctuary of the Madonna del Devesio is located in a magnificent position overlooking the plain, the upper Po Valley and Sanfront. According to legend, it was built on the site where the Madonna appeared, in the form of a star, to Agnese, founder of the Monastery of Rifreddo. The Chapel is enriched with a semicircular portico on the south-facing façade. Restored in 1748, it is now the destination of numerous pilgrimages. Behind the building, in the large hilly chestnut grove, a rest area has been equipped with tables, benches and a fountain.
