HISTORY The house was built in 1780 by the merchant Christopher Heinrich Mohr as a dwelling (Mohr, chosen Pärnu alderman, was also a local representative and enthusiastic participant in social life). After C.H.Mohr the next owner of the building was Hans Christian Erler, alderman of the Great Guild and son of city master builder. After the death of Erler the registered immovable property was purchased by the trading company J.Jacke and Co. In 1860s one of the managers of the company Carl Nicolai Frey, honorary consul of Sweden-Norway and Denmark lived there. The house was built by Mohr in the course of reconstructions of the main building (Rüütli 23) and was originally built as a one-storey dwelling. In 1820s II floor and recessed arch in plastered wood construction were added to it. Prior to renovation in 2015 the building was used as an office building- so-called house of lawyers. NEIGHBOURS The neighbouring building at Rüütli str 19 is the house built in 1845 which was originally use as a dwelling and later as the bank building from the year 1900. Since 1928 up to today the building is in use as the court building. The romantic inner yard of the house includes the most exciting place in Pärnu – Mohr’s stone barn of interesting construction originating from the 18th century (Rüütli str 21b) which has a wooden balcony with the gallery expanding in the upper part. Mohr’s house is located opposite the former market square. During the reign (1879 - 1915, 1918) of the city mayor Oscar Brackmann (1841-1927) the market was moved from there to the port district. The small park was established in place of the market square which was named Kinderpark, currently Lastepark (Children’s park). The park is quite small (0.3 ha), but includes though lots of species – cembra and mugo pines, pungent fir, Siberian fir, plumose thornbush etc. SURROUNDING AND PARKING Beautiful views open up from the windows to the park and Rüütli street. There are numerous cafes, dining places and stores in the surrounding and Endla theatre is located at the distance of 2-minute walk. There is a parking possibility in the yard. RENT The apartments in the building are partially rented out.
