Description

Charming historical property dating back to the 1500s, meticulously restored, located on Via Pignatelli, just outside the center of Spinazzola, in the heart of the old town. Set in a residential context surrounded by the lush countryside typical of the area and ample parking spaces for vehicles. The building, spread over three levels totaling approximately 800 square meters, offers unique and well-maintained spaces. The basement features several cellars transformed into elegant libraries and a wine storage area. The ground floor hosts a large room used as an office. The residential area is on the first floor, accessible from the street via convenient stairs. This level contains two cozy apartments with independent entrances, comprising spacious bedrooms, three bathrooms with a laundry area, a large living room with a fireplace, two kitchens, and balconies with panoramic views of the Murgese countryside. The property benefits from an ideal climate both in summer and winter, due to the thick walls typical of 16th-century constructions. Additionally, the location of the building is noteworthy: recently, the Alta Murgia, which includes Spinazzola, was officially designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark, recognizing the global significance of the area and celebrating its invaluable geological, natural, and cultural heritage. Location: Spinazzola is a town in Apulia, in the province of Barletta-Andria-Trani, with just over 6,000 inhabitants, situated on the western side of the Murge hills, on a hilly terrain known as the "Saddle of Spinazzola," 435 meters above sea level. The town is perched on a terrace surrounded by cliffs overlooking the valley of the Locone stream, the main tributary of the Ofanto River. After the demolition of the Pignatelli Castle at the beginning of the 20th century, Spinazzola preserved the remains of a medieval city wall, a commandery of the Knights of St. John, the 16th-century mother church (San Pietro Apostolo), and the first Templar hospital in Apulia. Also, there are ruins of the Garagnone Castle, located in the Garagnone district on the rocks of the Murgia, between Poggiorsini and Spinazzola, which belonged to the Orsini fiefdom. Near Spinazzola, there are also the ruins of a Norman castle. Another monument in Spinazzola is the Epitaffio, located in the district of the same name. This historical artifact was built in 1631 to commemorate the old "Tratturo Regio Melfi-Castellaneta," which in Roman times allowed livestock to be moved. Nearby locations within a 50 km radius include Monte Vulture and the Monticchio Lakes, Melfi Castle, Monteserico Castle, Castel del Monte, Lagopesole Castle, Matera, the Cathedral and Castle of Trani, the Castle of Barletta, Minervino Murge, Gravina, and the Brotomagno Archaeological Park.
